The minimum wage in 2023 will be €700

The minimum wage in Slovakia goes up every year, and from 1 January 2023 it will be €700. Over the last 10 years, the minimum wage has increased more than twofold. You can see how the minimum wage has developed over the years in the table below.

Along with the basic minimum wage, the minimum wage will also rise at every level of work difficulty.

Depending on the complexity, responsibility and strenuousness of the employee’s work, jobs are defined by the following characteristics:

LEVEL 1

Performance of auxiliary, preparatory or handling work according to precise procedures and instructions.

LEVEL 2

Performance of complete routine service work or routine specialist work that can be checked, according to set procedures or operating regimes, or of work involving material liability. Performance of simple craft work, orderly work in healthcare, and repetitive, checkable administrative, business-administrative, operational-technical or economic work according to instructions or established procedures.

LEVEL 3

Performance of varied specialist work or complete specialist work, or independent handling of less complex areas of work, independent performance of individual creative craft work, managing or operationally ensuring the running of equipment or operating processes, associated with increased mental effort and possibly with responsibility for the health and safety of other persons or for damage that is difficult to remedy.

LEVEL 4

Independent handling of specialist areas of work or performance of partial conceptual, system and methodological work associated with increased mental effort, provision of healthcare, specialist activities in healthcare with responsibility for people’s health, managing, organising or coordinating complex processes or an extensive set of very complex equipment, possibly with responsibility for the lives and health of other persons.

LEVEL 5

Performance of specialised system, conceptual, creative or methodological work involving high mental effort, comprehensive handling of the most complex sections and areas of work, including determining new procedures within the system, performance of specialist and specialised activities in the relevant field of healthcare with responsibility for people’s health, managing, organising and coordinating very complex processes and systems, including choosing and optimising procedures and methods of solution.

LEVEL 6

Creative solving of tasks in an unusual way with unspecified outputs and a high degree of responsibility for damage with the broadest social consequences, performance of specialised and certified activities in healthcare with responsibility for people’s health and lives, managing, organising and coordinating the most complex systems with responsibility for irreparable material and moral damage, with considerable demands on the ability to resolve complex and conflictual situations, usually associated with a general threat to the widest group of persons.
